Hotel

We checked out of our hotel this morning and left for the El Calafate airport. This hotel had been an Estancia with lots of rooms for guests. It was converted to a very comfortable hotel. Cartoons of Quino (Joaquín Salvador Lavado, also known for "Malalda") are posted at the door to each room. This one was Peter's favorite. (Links: Quino's official web page; Wiki for Quino; Link to our hotel.)

Before checking out, we had a chance to see the local herding process.

Ah, we had a couple of lines like the one above at airport at El Calafate. We were waiting to board our flight taking us back to Beanos Aires.

We enjoyed looking at the east coast of Argentina as we flew over it. Peter always thought that the Valdes Peninsula looked interesting on maps. Here it is. (Link: Wiki, Google Map of this area.)

We arrived back in Buenos Aires with plenty of time to do some site-seeing and to have a good dinner with our travel group. This is Florida Street, a pedestrian mall. I liked the image of the Dad with his daughter and Barbie pack.

Cafe
Café Tortoni has the distinction of being a gathering place for intellectuals, artists and politicians. In fact, here I am at a table right next to poet Alfonsina Storni; singer and leading Tango publicist, Carlos Gardel; and writer Jorge Luis Borges.

I title this picture "What would Justin do?" This was the window of our hotel room. (Peter and I did not climb out.) Here is link to a map showing our hotel's location.
