Today, we left the boat 🙁 and arrived at the Baltra airport. Before heading to the airport, we landed on a nearby beach on the north side of Santa Cruz island. Here we saw flamingoes and the nests of the Galápagos green turtle (Chelonia agassizii. Wiki link.). We flew to Quito via Guayaquil, rode the bus back into Quito and checked in to our hotel. For dinner, went to Mama Clorinda, a spot that was recommended by our guide, Jorge. We liked it so much that we had lunch there the next day. We had Llapingachos, which are Equadorian potato patties stuffed with cheese (link to recipe). These were great. The menu also had Guinea pig – whole and half. We skipped that. I feel satisfied that we were adventurous enough after eating the grubs on day 4.
