Day 3 – Flew to Coca, traveled to lodge, jungle hike

Today, we left Quito and flew to Coca. In Coca, we were all fitted with Wellies – big rubber muck boots. We soon discovered that this was a real good idea. We were loaded, with our luggage and boots, into a motorized canoe and we headed down the Napo river several miles to the lodge where we would be staying for the next 3 days.

Once in Coca, we boarded a bus

The bus took us to a dock where we boarded a motorized canoe. This excursion in the bus was interesting because we got a chance to see a bit of Coca.

En route to the dock, we stopped at a produce market.

Here, Enrique selected a box of produce which we saw throughout our stay at the Yarina Lodge.

Here are some of the prices at the market

It looks like milk is ~ $1/liter; peppers are about $0.20 each; tomatoes are $0.50 per pound. The prices are US Dollars which makes comparing things much easier.

OK, this picture might be appealing to some (males), but it is not correct mythologically speaking.... Photo by Peter
